Stephen and Sherrie Suverison, the driving force behind Vegatier Express, proudly lead their family-owned and operated vegan food trailer, pop-up cafe, and catering service. This dynamic duo has cultivated a loyal following with their delectable, plant-based interpretations of classic Tex-Mex and Western favorites. Their signature vegan Chili, Chili Cheeze Dawgs, Nachos & Cheeze, and Mac & Cheeze are particularly popular.
Guided by a deep commitment to compassionate eating and empowerment, the Suverisons aim to share a journey of kindness with their community. They promote delicious, cruelty-free meals that not only delight the palate but also foster a greater appreciation for the well-being of all living beings. Through Vegatier Express, Stephen and Sherrie aspire to inspire a culture of empathy, compassion, and sustainability, one exceptional, plant-based meal at a time.
Their commitment to veganism stems from a profound realization of the ethical and environmental implications of food choices. In 2015, following the adoption of meditation practices, they embraced a vegan lifestyle, transitioning overnight from omnivores to vegans. This decision was driven by a desire to align their actions with their values, recognizing the suffering inflicted upon animals in the food industry and the environmental impact of animal agriculture. They believe that if self-nourishment can be achieved without causing harm, it is a moral imperative.
The Suverisons' culinary creativity flourished as they explored the possibilities of plant-based cuisine. They experimented with ingredients, developing new recipes and refining existing ones, drawing inspiration from vegan chefs like Gaz Oakley, Chad and Derek Sarno, and Chloe Coscarelli. This experimentation led to their own creations of satisfying, flavorful, and accessible vegan dishes.
Recognizing the common concern about giving up cheese, the Suverisons’ focused on developing exceptional vegan cheese alternatives. They understand the allure of dairy cheese, having been cheese-lovers themselves. However, they discovered the vast array of available vegan cheese options and, more importantly, developed their own unique, heart-healthy vegan nacho cheese, free of nuts, oil, starch, corn, soy, and dairy, made instead with real food ingredients. This exceptional cheese, so unique they trademarked it, became a cornerstone of their menu.
Their pursuit of the perfect vegan cheese led them to explore various ingredients and techniques. They even collaborated with Cornell University to test the shelf stability of their creations. While the university recommended adding preservatives, the Suverisons remained committed to using only natural ingredients. This dedication to quality and health ultimately led them to the decision to launch a food trailer, allowing them to share their cheese and other culinary creations directly with the public.
The journey to Vegatier Express was not without its challenges. The 2020 pandemic temporarily delayed their plans. However, their entrepreneurial spirit led them to operate a pop-up cafe while awaiting the completion of their food trailer. Finally, in 2024, Vegatier Express became a reality.
